Make a Scrolly Story Workshop

  • The Projection Room 11 Torbay Road Paignton, England, TQ4 6AA United Kingdom (map)

Make a Scrolly Story in a box to take home in this fabulous family friendly workshop. A scroll story is called a ‘Crankie’ because of the way the pictures are moved, or cranked, along the roll. This is simple technology for digital times and where creativity meets engineering.

In this fun workshop you will be shown how to make your own mini-crankie in a matchbox by wonderful crankie maker and singer, Wendy Dacre. She has spent her life making props, puppets and paraphernalia and now makes amazing scrolling stories called crankies which she performs locally and around the world.

Tickets are on a pay-what-you-feel basis. Suitable for children over 8 and adults. Places are limited so please book in advance.

On 21st February at 7.00 - 8.30pm, join us to watch Wendy perform her brilliant crankies alongside a Magic Lantern show from Richard Crangle, who has created the Lucerna Magic Lantern Web Resource lucerna.exeter.ac.uk.
