About the Residency
Taking her inspiration from the Paignton Picture House, Jessica Wooller will be investigating new ways to combine light, film and video projection to create a moving image installation for public viewing. She will be asking the questions: ‘What is it to observe?’ and ‘How can we use projections and light to create a new landscape or tell a story?’
About the Artist
Jessica is an interdisciplinary artist and theatre practitioner passionate about experimental film, creative editing, live projection, and cinematic visuals. She recently completed a Master’s degree in Theatre Practice, graduating with a 1st class distinction from Exeter University. As part of her studies she produced a solo performance called ‘Wild Territories’, which set out to provoke awareness of viewing and being viewed.
Jessica produces music videos and live cinematic visuals for a music band called ‘Abrasive Trees’ which helps them to create immersive audience experiences. Last year she produced a dramatic cinematic backdrop for a performance by the Torbay Symphony Orchestra, and for 15 years was a VJ (Video Jockey) for acts such as Bristol’s One-Man Army, Steve Davis’s electronica band Utopia Strong and the legendary DJ Bobafatt.
