Song of the Sea: Stringed music & voice from around the globe

  • The Projection Room 11 Torbay Road Paignton, England, TQ4 6AA United Kingdom (map)

Inspired by the many rich traditions of Europe and beyond, Louis and Griselda's music reaches from Galicia to Norway, Donegal to Crete, with many stops between.

Louis & Griselda will be performing three 20-minute shows between 11am-12pm: shows start at 11am, 11.20am and 11.40am.

Locally based virtuosos Louis Bingham and Griselda Sanderson are a mother and son duo who keep alive the timeless traditions of a musical family. Louis plays fretted instruments such as the Celtic cittern, guitar, tenor banjo and Bulgarian tambura. Griselda plays bowed strings - fiddle, viola, Norwegian Hardanger and the Swedish nyckelharpa. Highly regarded as individual stylists on their respective instruments, their arrangements evoke a vivid soundscape echoing the broad span of their repertoire.
